The idea that “Prosperity is built on foundations one does not wholly own” would be quite difficult for many people, and not a good line for a political party. But for the trading nations you cover, it must be true, and must be seen strategically.
Do you see the US/UK economic relationship being any different in five years time?
The EU arguably bought the peace, reduced democracy and has flooded itself to with an immigration problem, I would want to hitch myself to that either. It seems to me that no one is leaning that lean is a really bad idea, it makes your economy brittle when applied to industry, be it finances, supply chains, or working populations wholly dependant on those companies. What we need is cheap sovereign energy, low cost of production, and less reliance on our neighbours at all levels. That doesn't for one moment mean we don't trade with them but balancing the books is needed, without destroying ourselves and the only way of doing that is low cost of production and subsequent growth and the easiest way of doing that is cheap energy. All these tightly coupled super large political projects are going to fail just like they did in the USSR. In fact screw it I will write up why that's the case imho.
Dude that's really good to know!!! Thank you it drives me bonkers 😭 although the more and more common age verification requests and censoring is starting to piss me off more. Labour knew exactly what that would do to discourse.
Very informative. I enjoyed reading it very much.
